The American Surgical Company Ray-Cot 61-02S is a sterile, single use rayon neurosurgical strip measuring 1/2 x 6 in (13 x 152 mm), supplied in the strung version with a sewn-in locator string. It is placed over brain and other delicate tissue during neurosurgical and spine procedures to absorb fluid and protect the surgical field, and the 6 inch length gives linear coverage where a standard pattie is too short. The manufacturer states Ray-Cot rayon gives 12 percent greater absorbency and is 2 times stronger than the leading standard rayon pattie, with a single x-ray detectable barium line and smooth precise edges that reduce the potential for loose fibers. Packed 200 per box as 20 pouches of 10 and manufactured in Salem, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
